
USCF Expert Ryan Murphy is back with a new course titled, Refuting Unsound Sacrifices, which is the third installment of his popular series of courses on defensive technique.
This course teaches how to defend when your opponent tries to rip open your king's position. This course provides psychological tips and general rules of thumb that will help
guide your calculation and defend successfully so that you can go on to
convert your extra material after stopping your opponent's attack.
This course has 4 video lessons with a total run time of 1 hour and 22 minutes and 4 PGN files covering all the instructive examples. This course is designed for intermediate players in the 1200-1600 Elo rating range who wish to improve their defensive skills. Ryan
uses examples from top level games as well as amateur games to cover
the most common sacrificial patterns in the opening phase and in the
middlegame so that you can defend with confidence.

USCF Expert Ryan Murphy is a chess coach from Wisconsin who joined Chess University in 2016. He works behind the scenes as the Operations Manager and has also helped teach live lessons in the Prodigy Program and analyzed hundreds of student games.
Ryan started playing tournament chess at the age of 17 and is currently working towards the goal reaching the USCF title of National Master. Ryan teaches many private students online and works for a chess academy in Wisconsin, teaching chess in after-school programs.
